Family Mental Health Resources and Support Organizations Reference Guide

This section provides a partial list of regional resources. Families can contact their insurance company to get a list of “in-network” providers. If you are uninsured or having difficulty finding the right resource, please contact your child’s school counselor.

  • Assists in helping families connect with services pertaining to behavioral health, intellectual and developmental disability, and substance use and treatment.  PerformCare is the single point of entry to the New Jersey Children’s System of Care (CSOC) for services such as Care Management Organizations (CMOs), Mobile Response, and Family Support  Organizations. The CSOC helps professionals and families connect to healthy supports in their communities and counties.

  • SAFE in Hunterdon
    Serves Hunterdon County survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault by providing the resources they need to rebuild their lives and restore safety after experiencing or witnessing interpersonal violence.

  • Mobile Response and Stabilization Services (MRSS)
    “Provides face-to-face crisis services within one hour of notification. The goal is to de-escalate emotional or behavioral crisis and keep your youth at home. Mobile response is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and can offer up to eight weeks of stabilization services.”

    Family Crisis Intervention Unit 
    “An immediate intervention and stabilization for juveniles (12-17) and their families who are experiencing an ongoing crisis (family conflict, truancy, runaway behavior or a threat to their physical safety of wellbeing). Services are available 24/7.”
    Services include assessment, short term supportive counseling, linkages to psychiatric evaluations, and referral to community resources

    Hunterdon Mental Health Crisis Hotline
    Emergency Mental Health Services are available 24/7 to assess suicidality, homicidality, psychosis or dangerousness due to mental illness.

    Capital Health Emergency Mental Health Services (formerly Helene Fuld)  
    Emergency walk-in program provides individuals with the ability to request an assessment by a psychiatric counselor at the time of their crisis, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

    Rutgers Acute Psychiatric Services (APS) and Behavioral Health University (BHU)
    For  assistance with concerns regarding self-harm or suicidal ideation, APS provides psychiatric  screening and intervention services for children, teens, and adults. APS is open 24 hours/7 days  a week.

  • Youth Art Therapy Bereavement Program

    Hunterdon Behavioral Health provides high-quality, comprehensive mental health and addiction services.
